Internal Halyards

Sage 17 uses internal halyards for the main and jib.  If requested by the owner an internal spinnaker halyard is also installed.

Why use internal halyards?

no air turbulence from the lines and therefore the main is more efficient.

On the starboard side you can see the main halyard exiting the mast (the red line is the halyard).

This is one of many things that Jerry designed into the Sage 17 that make her faster in all airs, more stable, and easier to sail when compared to his earlier designs, and other 17′ pocket cruisers.
