Giving the gift of safety

In the December 2015 issue of Chesapeake Bay magazine SpinSheet there is an excellent article about an issue close to my heart – WEARING A PFD.

A ‘snip’ from the article –

Sailing is supposed to be safe. But it’s also supposed to be fun. So at
SpinSheet, we are asking our readers to take an extra step for 2016, making the new year an opportunity to change the ways we look at lifejackets and safety. If you love a sailor, invest in his or her safety by buying a lifejacket they will wear. Take your favorite sailor shopping; try on several models; let him or her decorate it; make it something that they will love, appreciate, and (most importantly) wear. It doesn’t have to be fancy; it does have to be comfortable. It’s meant to get dirty, and sun-bleached, and have plenty of little boat bites and scuffs to show how much it’s loved.

So … as you consider a gift for a sailor friend, or for your own wish list, think about one of the new comfortable PDFs that are available.

I agree totally Dave with you and the article. A PFD is something every sailor should wear with pride and cherish as their life does depend upon it. Remember if you’re unconscious it does’nt matter how good a swimmer you are! Without a life jacket on you could drown. Don’t be shamed into not wearing one because those around you don’t; rather educate them as to why they should also be wearing one!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the whole crew at Spyderco Knife and Sage Marine!
